Hoops for the Next Generation

In 2007, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) invented a new version of basketball based on traditional 3-on-3, but with a new set of rules that would enhance the pace, intensify the action, and optimize the half court game as a spectator sport.

They named it 3x3.

12-second shot clock. The ball must be cleared beyond the arc with each change of possession. Continuous play after made baskets.  First team to 21 wins.

This game is half court, but full throttle.

On June 9, 2017, 3x3 was officially added to the Olympic Games. The sport will debut at Tokyo 2021.
